Om koncerten:

The concert opens with four mélodies by Fauré, in which voice and piano engage in a balanced and natural dialogue, closely following the rhythm and imagery of French poetry. This is followed by Alessandro Meacci’s Apollinaire, ovvero il ladro della Gioconda, inspired by Guillaume Apollinaire and the famous theft of the Mona Lisa. The composition reinterprets the historical episode through a contemporary musical language, intertwining literary and musical influences.

Tosti’s Quattro Canzoni d’Amaranta, set to poems by Gabriele D’Annunzio, represents one of the highlights of the Italian art song tradition. With close attention to the poetic text, the music creates a continuous dialogue between voice and piano, bringing out its many nuances.

The programme is completed by Brahms’s Fünf Lieder, Op. 105 and Strauss’s Vier Lieder, Op. 27, two collections offering different perspectives on the German Lied tradition. In Brahms, voice and piano interact with restraint and balance, while Strauss—who composed Op. 27 as a wedding gift for his wife, Pauline de Ahna—expands the melodic scope and richness of the musical writing, culminating in the celebrated Morgen!.
