Poetry is a time machine

IT Morten Søndergaard, writer and artist, and Bruno Berni, researcher and translator, will be in conversation on themes ranging from contemporary Danish lyric poetry to the “Alfabet” poetry series, which they curate together for the publisher Kolibris. At the heart of the event will be translation above all else, a crucial issue for Søndergaard, who has lived in our country for years and translates the daily experience of a life in Italian into Danish verse. To close the circle, sometimes, is Berni himself, who brings his voice back into Italian, filtered through the Danish language. The conversation will be accompanied by readings in Danish and Italian, taken from the suite Samarkand, recently released in Italy, and from previous collections of Søndergaard translated by Berni.
