Library
The Danish Academy has a research library containing a large collection of books, journals and other media. The library was originally set up to support the activities of the Academy's research fellows. Furthermore, it was to collect materials that strengthened the Academy's research fields. Over time, the library has grown and is increasingly used by external researchers.
Opening hours

The library is open for external users from Monday to Friday between 9:00-16:00.
Access to the library is by prior arrangement with the Academy's librarian, Adelaide Zocchi, who can be contacted by email: adelaide@acdan.it or by phone: 0632659343/53.
The collection can only be used in the library and is not available for borrowing or lending. However, it is possible to scan or photocopy extracts from books in accordance with current Italian legislation. In special cases* the library is available for Document Delivery service in accordance with current Italian legislation.
If you have a serious academic purpose and are prevented from visiting the library personally.
The collection
At present, the library contains over 30,000 titles, including monographs, scores, and journals, with approximately 70 current periodicals.
The purchase of books, journals and other media and other expenses related to the library are covered by the Ministry of Culture and to a greater extent by Queen Ingrid's Roman Foundation. The library has exchange agreements with many libraries and cultural and research institutions in Italy, Denmark and other countries. In addition to monographs, the library has approximately 235 journals and series, of which over 100 are exchanged with the Academy's Analecta Romana Instituti Danici. In addition to the above, gifts and donations from individuals and institutions also contribute to increasing the Academy's collections.
The library's collections include, among others:
- Archaeology (especially Italian)
- Ancient history
- Art and art history (mainly Italian and to a lesser extent Danish)
- Architecture
- Classical, medieval and modern philology
- Italian topography
- Italian and Danish literature
- Danish museum catalogues
Special focus areas are:
- Works by Danish travellers to Italy
- Danish music: the library contains the only collection of Danish music in Italy. It consists of a CD collection of Danish music from the Middle Ages to the present day and scores of Danish music from the 19th and 20th centuries. The majority of this music collection was funded by the Augustinus Foundation.

Donations
The library regularly receives individual books as gifts, but also larger collections or parts of them. Sometimes the library also receives financial support for selected projects, such as book purchases within a specific subject area.
Among the largest gifts and donations in recent years can be highlighted:

| 2023 | Parts of Professor of Danish Jørgen Stender Clausen's library. |
| 2020 | Queen Ingrid's Roman Foundation financed a significant purchase of books in the fields of architecture and art (history). |
| 2020 | Marta Cardillo, daughter of Italian architect Ugo Cardillo, donated her late father's entire library to the Academy. |
| 2019 | Major book donation from author and translator Thomas Harder, who regularly donates books to the Academy's library. |
| 2016 | Parts of Professor of Danish Marcella Rinaldi's library. |
| 2014 | Parts of the library of architect and former director of the Danish Institute Kjeld de Fine Licht. |
| 2013 | Hanne Goldschmidt and Palle Werner Nielsen left their library to the Academy, and they also provided financial support for library purposes. |
