Mikkel Bogh
Professor and Head of Department, Department of Arts and Cultural Studies. He was an associate professor of art history and modern culture studies at Aarhus University and the University of Copenhagen (1994–2005), and subsequently head of two departments at the University of Copenhagen. From 2005 to 2014, he was rector of the Schools of Visual Arts at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and from 2014 to 2023 director of the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK). Since 1 June 2023, he has been a professor and head of the Centre for Practice-Based Art Studies at the University of Copenhagen. He serves on the boards of directors of Overgaden (Chair), Ribe Art Museum, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Art Hub Copenhagen, and the Gernes Foundation, amongst others.
Areas of expertise: Modern and contemporary art, European art and cultural history (with a particular focus on the 17th century), research and strategic management, creative leadership and change management in cultural institutions.
